Tooth Extracts in Garland, TX
Do you need a tooth extraction? This can be tough news to hear. You may feel discouraged or embarrassed about losing a tooth you thought you’d have for a long time. And you may wonder what you’re going to do about the gap in your smile after your procedure.
The dental care team at Garland Grove Dentistry understands your feelings at a time like this. Your oral health, comfort, and well-being are all important to us, and if it affects you, it affects us. You can be confident that Dr. Woo Sung Jung and our team of exceptionally kind and caring professionals will ensure the process is as smooth and stress-free as possible.
Why We Might Recommend Tooth Extraction
It’s important to understand that removing a tooth is never a dentist’s first choice. Preserving tooth structure, even if it’s compromised, is always preferable to removing the tooth.
If we’ve recommended tooth extraction, it’s because it’s the only option that will protect your oral health and your remaining teeth. Sometimes, removing a tooth will help us deliver the best results in conjunction with other procedures:
- A tooth has extensive decay or infection that we can't resolve with a root canal.
- We need to remove teeth that have been loosened by advanced gum disease.
- You have wisdom teeth coming in at odd angles or crowding other teeth.
- You’re getting full dentures and removing teeth will provide the best results.
- Your child is having orthodontic treatment and needs some baby teeth removed.
We Make Your Comfort a Priority
When you need a procedure like a tooth extraction, you couldn’t choose a more supportive or helpful team than the one at Garland Grove Dentistry. That’s because we put ourselves in your place to make your comfort a priority in everything we do. Whether we’re removing a single tooth or multiple teeth, you can count on us to make the process as stress-free as possible.
Dr. Jung will make sure your mouth is good and numb before we begin so you won’t feel anything except slight pressure. If you think you could benefit from some extra relaxation, we also offer nitrous oxide or laughing gas. With nitrous, you won’t go to sleep, but you’ll feel very drowsy and relaxed.
Post-Procedure Care at Home
The steps you take in the first hours and days after tooth extraction are critical to the success of your recovery. Our dental care team will provide you with at-home care instructions that you need to follow carefully.
We want to help you avoid a very painful complication called dry socket that occurs when the protective blood clot over the extraction site comes loose. Follow our instructions, and within a day or so, you should be feeling just fine.
